My getting aquainted with Olive Farm goes all the way back to 1995, when it was first founded. It was said that some Americans came to Datça, loved the place and built the establishment. They also did tours of the factory back then, which I remember as a fun activity we had done with people from Aktur, where we have our summer home. I don’t know if they still carry out those tours. Well, what happened is that these nice Americans Rosenbergs) who established Olive farm, were found to be involved in smuggling artifacts out of the country, and hence they were gone and the establishment is now owned by Turks.  Let’s concentrate more on the farm and its products. From the beginning they have been producing cold-pressed olive oil. When cold-pressed the olive is less processed, more natural and does not lose its nutritional value. If you wish to listen to the facts from them, this what they have to say:

“Pressing of olives is done at 28 degrees Centigrade, at cold-press, producing the oil which is the best for your health. When pressed at higher temperatures, it is possible to obtain more oil, but at the same time majority of anti-oxidants that are significantly important for health is lost. Olive oil needs good care also after the pressing, so must be stored in the best way. That is why we store our oil in air-conditioned rooms, away from heat and light, inside stainless steel tanks, continuously monitoring for a duration of three months.”

I believe that not only is their factory and  production methods hygienic, natural and health-concious but their products are also very good and tasty. They sell their products in nicely designed bottles and containers. I love Datça a lot. I’ve been going there almost every summer since I was a baby. Sometimes I stay the whole summer and sometimes just a few days, but almost every time I go, I go to Eski Datça (Old Datça.) Olive Farm has a store here too. And now, it’s nice to see that they have a store in İstanbul, in Kuruçeşme. Everytime I go the Aşşk Cafe, seeing Olive Farm there is like seeing a friend from my summer place. It brings back memories from the past summers.

Ayvalık Pink Olives

Ayvalık Organic Olive Oil - extra virgin

Cabernet Sauvignon Vinegar
Like I said, they have some special, organic products. For example, we like their Cabernet Sauvignon Vinegar (22 TL-250 ml) and pink olives. I could also recommend Ayvalık Organic Olive Oil with oregano (30 TL-500 ml) and Dadya Ayvalık Early-pick Natural Sızma Oil, (165 TL- 5 lt jerrycan). However, there are other oils that are less pricey but as tasty. At the store, you can taste and decide. I can assure you that each one of them will please your palate and there will certainly be one that you’ll especially appreciate. With the addition of some oregano and balsamic vinegar or vinegar with rosemary, I can finish a whole loaf of bread, dipping into the oil.

I can also recommend their almond-oil shampoo and facial cleansing tonic. Soaps also smell great
and have lovely packaging...
